Sarah van Emst secures unique double victory at Dutch National Tennis Championships

Sarah van Emst has capped off a strong week with an exceptional achievement. At the Dutch National Tennis Championships, she secured the national title in both the women's singles and women's doubles. This double victory underscores her current form and ongoing development.

Championship final with mixed feelings

The women's singles final had a bittersweet conclusion. Van Emst faced her training partner, Britt du Pree. After a tense match, Du Pree was forced to retire at 4-6, 6-4, 3-0 in the third set due to an injury to her left upper leg.

The 18-year-old Du Pree started strong and won the first set. In the second, she fought back from a 4-1 deficit to 4-4 before the injury flared up. According to Du Pree, Van Emst’s physical approach played a clear role. “That was also down to Saar, who turned it into a physical match and sent me from left to right. I tried to keep going, but it just didn't make sense anymore.”

Afterward, Van Emst appeared visibly shaken, yet proud. “This is tough; she’s a friend. You don’t want to win like this, of course, but I’m very happy with the title. Super proud. I didn’t expect it either, as I’d just come out of a long training block.”

Gold in doubles, too

The singles title came a day after her first championship of the week. In the women’s doubles, Van Emst had already tasted success alongside Isis van den Broek. The duo won the final 6-3, 6-4 against Britt du Pree and Loes Ebeling Koning, convincingly securing the title.

For the 21-year-old from Zwolle, who—like Du Pree—is part of the KNLTB training program, this was a week where everything came together. Two national titles in a short time, against strong competition and following an intensive training period.

Comfort and performance on and off the court

During the tournament, Sarah van Emst played in the Women breeze tank, combined with the Kadiri women short 2 in 1 and the Kadiri uni sweatband. Apparel that supports her during intense matches where freedom of movement and comfort make all the difference.

Off the court, Van Emst also consciously chooses comfort. In her free time, she loves wearing the Kota women classic jogger paired with the Unisex hoodie. “A nice tracksuit is always a good choice, of course.”

Proudly from The Indian Maharadja

Sarah van Emst’s double victory didn’t come easily. Winning two titles in a single week requires physical stamina, focus, and the ability to perform under pressure during decisive moments. Especially after a long training block, that is no small feat.

At The Indian Maharadja, we recognize that combination of discipline and competitive spirit. Performing when it counts, even under less-than-ideal conditions. Van Emst’s titles at these National Championships show exactly where she stands now and provide a clear indication of what lies ahead.

Sarah, congratulations on an incredible week.
