Sarah van Emst wins unique double at Dutch Tennis Championships
Sarah van Emst ended a strong week with a remarkable achievement. At the Dutch Tennis Championships, she won the national title in both the women's singles and women's doubles. A double victory that underlines her current form and development.
Championship final with mixed feelings
The women's singles final had a tense conclusion. Van Emst faced her training partner Britt du Pree. After an exciting match, Du Pree had to retire at 4-6, 6-4, 3-0 in the third set due to an injury to her left thigh.
The 18-year-old Du Pree started strongly and won the first set. In the second set, she fought back from a 4-1 deficit to 4-4 before the injury flared up. According to Du Pree, Van Emst's physical approach played a clear role in this. "That was also to Saar's credit, who made it a physical match and sent me from left to right. I tried to go for it, but it was pointless."
Afterwards, Van Emst was visibly shaken, but also proud. "This is difficult, she's a friend of yours. Of course you don't want to win like this, but I'm very happy with the title. Super proud. I didn't expect it either, because I had just come out of a long training period."
Gold in doubles too
The singles title followed a day after her first championship of the week. Van Emst had already been successful in the women's doubles together with Isis van den Broek. The duo won the final 6-3, 6-4 against Britt du Pree and Loes Ebeling Koning, convincingly securing the title.
For the 21-year-old from Zwolle, who, like Du Pree, is part of the KNLTB Training Program, this was a week in which everything came together. Two national titles in a short period of time, against strong opponents and after an intensive training period.
Comfort and performance on and off the court
During the tournament, Sarah van Emst played in the Women's Breeze Tank, combined with the Kadiri women's 2-in-1 shorts and the Kadiri uni sweatband. Clothing that supports her in intense competitions where freedom of movement and comfort make all the difference.
Van Emst also consciously chooses comfort outside of work. In her free time, she likes to wear the Kota women's classic joggers paired with the unisex hoodie. "A comfortable tracksuit is always a good choice, of course."
Pride from The Indian Maharadja
Sarah van Emst's double victory did not come easily. Winning two titles in one week requires physical strength, focus, and the ability to continue performing at decisive moments. Especially after a long training period, that is not a given.
At The Indian Maharadja, we recognize that combination of discipline and competitive spirit. Performing when it counts, even under less than ideal circumstances. Van Emst's titles at this Dutch Championship show where she stands now and give a clear indication of what lies ahead.
Sarah, congratulations on this special week.
